WGI is dedicated to making the art of storytelling accessible to traditionally marginalized communities through writing workshops.
Consider joining our Gala Host Committee. Members play the pivotal role of ensuring that the Gala raises the necessary funds to sustain and grow WGI’s programs and agree to purchase at least two $600 tickets or make a contribution of $1,200. Table and ticket information below.

Over the past 15 years, WGI has delivered more than 300 writing workshops, engaging thousands of people. As demand for our programs has significantly increased, WGI will offer our most writing workshops ever in 2025.
All proceeds from this year’s Gala will engage emerging writers – including combat veterans of Iraq and Afghanistan and their families, immigrant youth, LGBTQ asylum seekers, librarians who are affected by book bans, people living with long COVID and chronic illness, and residents at Pendleton Correctional Facility – as they build their skills as writers with the guidance of our professional mentors, develop their individual voices, and share their stories.
